Bethesda Softworks LLC is an American video game publisher in Rockville, Maryland that is currently a subsidiary of ZeniMax Media, a new parent company formed in Rockville in 1999 that owns various video game developers, including the Texas-based id Software. Bethesda specializes in releasing dark, hardcore games aimed for adults, mostly involving graphic violence.
