Pinball FX 3 is the third installment of Zen Studios' Pinball FX series and the final installment of its original trilogy. The next Pinball FX game, a reboot, is currently in development and is set to be released in 2022.

Pinball FX 3 is the first Zen Studios pinball game to target both Microsoft and non-Microsoft platforms, and is a joint sequel to Pinball FX 2 and its non-Microsoft counterpart Zen Pinball 2. Pinball FX 3 is also the first game in the series to offer several different online multiplayer modes, further enhanced by cross-platform play.

Almost all the tables from prior installments returned for this sequel, along with various digital recreations of Williams tables. Several new licensed and original tables were introduced in Pinball FX 3, with select licensed tables from its two predecessors being cut due to licensing issues.

Table groups marked with an asterisk are not available on the Nintendo Switch port of the game; Star Wars tables are sold separately in a Nintendo Switch version of Star Wars Pinball.

Williams Censorship

Because Zen Studios' pinball games target an overall ESRB rating of Everyone 10+ and the Williams pinball tables included in Pinball FX3 contained content that isn't consistent with the rating, several minor changes to playfield elements were done to remove objectionable content. While it is not possible to remove the censorship in the game's console releases, the PC version allows players to play Williams tables uncensored, and the upcoming T-rated reboot will implement this option for console users.
