Xena: Warrior Princess is part of the Universal TV Classics pack released for Pinball FX. It is based on the hit TV series of the same name.

Table Overview[]

The upper half of the table[]

Going left to right:

The left outside orbit can hold a ball briefly before sending it back around from either the left or right orbit, or the shot will lock a ball for Lost in the Caves multiball. It will also start Alti's mission.

The left ramp leads to the spinning loops above the playfield which may return the ball to either lower flipper via the return wireforms. The left and right ramps together start Callisto's mission. The spinning loops will send the ball back and forth based on momentum and the number of combo shots recently made. There is a diverter in the center than shifts automatically to direct the ball to the next loop.

The left inside orbit leads to the crystal pop bumpers and can lock balls for Reunited multiball.

The two targets on the outside of the center horseshoe will light the lock for Reunited multiball.

The center horseshoe quickly sends the ball back out on the other side. It will start Gabrielle's mission once both sides are completed.

The center target will bring up the moving chakram target. Shooting through the moving chakram target will achieve the skill shot at each plunge and will start Ares' mission after three successful shots.

Just above the upper flipper is the Gift scoop. Shooting the scoop will gain progress toward a random award, which is also collected at the scoop. The ball will only feed to the upper flipper when it drops out of the pop bumpers on the left side. With some luck, the ball can ricochet into the scoop.

The right inside loop directs the ball into the crystal pop bumpers.

The right ramp leads to the spinning loops above the playfield which may return the ball to either lower flipper via the return wireforms. The left and right ramps together start Callisto's mission.

The right outside orbit can hold a ball briefly before sending it back around from either the left or right orbit. It will also start Xena's mission.

The lower half of the table[]

The tavern shot on the far left will hold the ball briefly and then release it back out. It will start Problematic Patron for lighting kickbacks and Joxer's mission.

Both outlanes have a barrel kickback that will catch the ball and launch it back into play.

The plunger[]

The game begins with a manual plunge that sends the ball arcing across the center of the playfield. There is a limited amount of time to shoot the ball through the moving chakram target for a skill shot; the skill shot will also register if the ball falls down through the chakram.

Objective and Missions[]

The goal of the table is to help Xena gather her companions and defeat her enemies. Each character mission is tied to one or two main shots on the playfield. These missions can be activated in any order. Each one must be completed as described below to light the wizard mode:

Ares: To activate, shoot the center target to raise the chakram; then shoot through the chakram three times. Next, strike the wall of magic from behind by shooting the orbits on the left; then shoot the inside orbits to reach the crystal bumpers to stop Ares' ritual in time.

Joxer: To activate, shoot the tavern on the far left three times. Next, complete both ramps two times, which will be blocked by bandits.

Gaby: To activate, shoot the center horseshoe three times on each side. Next, complete all of the six lit orbits and ramps. Beware that marauder drop targets will appear in the center and will need to be struck down.

Xena: To activate, shoot the right outside orbit four times. This will activate the mini playfield. Next, shoot the left and right sides of the mini playfield equally to raise the altar in the center. Shoot the altar to create a Balanced Chakram ball, which scores double for the remainder of the ball.

Callisto: To activate, shoot each ramp three times. Next, shoot the center horseshoe while avoiding the center target to move across the ladder toward the middle. Once Callisto appears, hit the center target to defeat her.

Caesar: To activate, shoot the Roman scouts and Roman officer targets on the far right. Next, defeat Caesar and his army by shooting down the many soldier drop targets across the playfield.

Alti: To activate, shoot the left outside orbit four times. Next, defeat Alti by hitting her drop target several times while avoiding the haunting visions.

Side Modes[]

Hurry-up[]

The Artifacts of Old hurry-up mode is activated at the crystal pop bumpers after a certain number of pop bumper hits. The pop bumpers will award rising scores for successive pop bumper hits for an amount of time equal to the required hits to activate(?).

Multiball[]

There are two multiball modes:

Lost in the Caves: Shooting the outside orbits will randomly lock balls for this mode. After three balls have been locked, multiball will start. Shoot the randomly lit lanes for jackpots or the outside orbits to relock balls, Relocked balls will not be released back into play!

Reunited: Shoot the two targets on either side of the center horseshoe to light a ball lock at the left inside orbit. Lock three balls to start multiball. Shoot the lit lanes for jackpots, or shoot through the chakram to relight jackpot lanes or score the super jackpot when all lanes are lit.

Perks[]

The following perks can be activated during gameplay:

  • Kickbacks: Visit the tavern on the far left side two times to start Problematic Patron. Hit the patron drop target in front of the tavern to activate a kickback on one side. Once activated, this kickback remains available until it is used.
  • Random Awards: The gift scoop just below the crystal pop bumpers will award one of the following awards every other time the ball enters the scoop(?): extra ball
  • Playfield Multiplier: After starting the Caesar mission, knocking down the Roman scouts and striking the officer on the far right side of the lower playfield will activate a playfield multiplier beginning at 1.5x. This multiplier can be raised by 0.5x each time the ball strikes the officer, up to a maximum of 3.0x. The multiplier lasts for an unspecified but limited time.
  • Combos: Combo shots can be scored from the ramps and center horseshoe only. After a combo has ended, shoot one of the ramps to collect additional combo points based on the number of shots made.
  • Bonus Multiplier: Spelling FATE at the inlanes/outlanes will raise the bonus multiplier by 1x up to a maximum or 10x.
  • Extra balls: Extra balls can be acquired from completing all three companion modes (Gabrielle, Joxer, and Ares), completing all three enemy modes (Callisto, Caesar, and Alti), creating the Balanced Chakram in Xena's mode, shooting one combo of 10 shots, and collecting one as a random gift at the scoop above the upper flipper.
